As part of Sir Peter Blake Leadership Week, a few of our leaders were “shadowed” by two students who are about to embark on their own career journey. The aim of “Shadow a Leader” is to give Auckland secondary students and AUT faculty of Business and Law students the opportunity to follow a business leader for a day and to understand what it takes to succeed. Chad Wongchiu and Shreya Jadhav spent a day with several of our leaders to get a better understanding of the inner workings within a large New Zealand company.
“It was both an eventful and insightful day,” says Shreya, “It will remain in my memories for years to come!” The day started at CCA NZ with a welcome presentation from the team. Our students then followed their first leader, Emma Rutherford, our National HR Manager. “Our vision, journey, and values plays a crucial role in our business and this was a great opportunity to take them through our Why”.
Following on from Emma, Chad and Shreya had a whirlwind induction into the business as they met:
Brad Gibb & James Watson – Accounting and Business Intelligence
Natalie Dorn – Marketing and Innovation
Danielle Zinzan – Corporate Affairs
Aimy Easy & Louisa Buchanan – HR
Sam Morgan & Richard Algar – Health & Safety and Supply Chain
The “Shadow a Leader” experience concluded with a Pacific Leadership Team Q&A forum, where our senior leadership team passed along their insights and experience to our people at Coca-Cola Amatil New Zealand. “It was amazing to see how each and everyone one of the people we had time with truly believed in CCA and its culture”, says Shreya, “It would be amazing to be associated with such a wonderful organisation sometime in the future”.
Sir Peter Blake once said, “The hardest part of any journey is just to begin”. We feel privileged to be able to assist two students in the initial steps of their career journey.
